Association
The Tyrolean Artists’ Association is a forum for art in Tyrol.
It comprises a non-profit-making, politically independent union of fine artists based in Innsbruck. The association currently numbers 357 members (June 2023). The purpose of the association is to represent and promote the cultural, economic, and social interests of fine artists.
The Tyrolean Artists’ Association manages the following institutions:
- Kunstpavillon
- Neue Galerie Innsbruck in the Hofburg Innsbruck
- Künstlerhaus Büchsenhausen
In the Kunstpavillon and the Neue Galerie Innsbruck, the Tyrolean Artists’ Association lays emphasis on the development of exhibitions by international artists in close cooperation with artists resident in the region, which puts local positions into the context of related ideas and working methods. This exhibition activity and diverse events forges a link between our creative artists and the general public. Künstlerhaus Büchsenhausen is a center for production, research, and discussion. It provides a platform for artists, curators, art critics and theorists, enabling the development and production of artistic and art-theoretical projects within a critical art context. At the same time, it creates a forum of direct exchange between artists working internationally and regionally, curators, critics and theorists.
Künstlerhaus Büchsenhausen unites two promotional programs under one roof. On the one hand, it implements the Fellowship Program for Art and Theory, in the context of which graduate artists, curators, art critics and theorists may come to Innsbruck for one or two semesters and work on projects here. On the other hand, it is a studio house for Tyrol-based artists who are searching for a space to work within an interesting artistic environment.
The Tyrolean Artists’ Association receives annual subsidies from the State Government of Tyrol – Department of Culture, the BKA, Federal Chancellery of the Republic of Austria – Department of Art, and the Cultural Office of the City of Innsbruck.
