Die Ausstellung Unfixed Place, Ambiguous Time vereint Gemälde, Zeichnungen, Fotografi en und Klangwerke von Vigan Nimani (1981, RKS), um einen umfassenderen Blick auf die Arbeit des Künstlers von 2010 bis heute zu eröffnen. Indem er gefundene Bilder mit eigenen Fotografi en verbindet, dokumentiert Nimani, wie die Architektur der Moderne aus dem Kosovo verschwindet. Das Archiv des Künstlers bildet eine zuverlässige Dokumentation; seine Gemälde, die oft auf Archivmaterial basieren, dienen dazu, kulturelle Erinnerung in Umlauf zu bringen. Diese Ausstellung, die mit einer Audio-Performance eröffnet wird, ist die erste umfangreiche Werkschau des Künstlers außerhalb des Kosovo.
The exhibition Unfixed Place, Ambiguous Time brings together paintings, drawings, photographs and sound works of Vigan Nimani (1981, RKS) to take a broader look into the artist‘s practice from 2010 to present. Nimani has been documenting the erasure of modernist architecture in Kosovo through compiling found images and his own photography. While the artist’s archive creates a dependable documentation, his paintings, often sourced from archival material, enable circulation of cultural memory. For the fi rst time outside Kosovo, a wide selection of works accompanied by an audio performance at the opening night will be on display.
